ALIFORNIA LOCOS is SIC! A System of Independent Cultures. All of these
artists and curators are artistic gatekeepers that make us understand—through
the society of spectacle—the matrix in which we are living the dolce vita loca.
This golden (c)age of alternative culture represents one version of the
globalized American Re-Evolution—the one that we European people never had
the chance to look for. The one that is now the mainstream of minorities, which
is today the most power-fool zeitgeist mindfuck of all times.

All the art and artists collected in California Locos are messages and people
who share the same destiny: to live in and love Los Angeles. As Shana Nys
Dambrot wrote—for artists Chaz Bojórquez, Dave Tourjé, John Van Hamersveld,
Norton Wisdom and Gary Wong in the beginning, followed by others such as
Mary Anna Pomonis, Retna, Shepard Fairey, Estevan Oriol, OG Slick and Mister
Cartoon, working in Los Angeles is and always has been—everything.
In some strange way we can say that the City of Angels is properly
a character of this beautiful story that we are going to tell you. So please, set
aside for a minute the Eurocentric way of reading art history and enjoy this ride
in a never-seen West Coast view—with the California Locos.
